Create a Special Reading Spot for Your Child

A great way to encourage reading is to create a special corner just for that. Any child will want to spend time curled up with a good book in their own personal reading spot. Make it fun. Make it cushy. Make it cozy. Stock it with books and you'll have a reader in no time.

Teachers find reading corners popular in the classroom and even use them as a reward for good work or good behavior. Parents can create a reading nook that invites a child to unplug from the TV and the games. It can be their own quiet retreat to bond with a book. Here are ideas for all styles of reading corners or reading nooks for children.

Sure Kids Can Read Anywhere

but they will read more with a special reading corner or reading nook of their own

Teachers and librarians want to get the message out to parents that reading is vital to school success. Besides that, reading makes a marvelous lifelong hobby that brings many hours of pleasure.

You will want to do everything you can to turn your child into a reader. Making sure they have a comfortable place to read and plenty of books on hand.

Fun Ladybug Tent - Makes a great reading nook for a kid

They can have some favorite books in a tote or bin nearby or in an adjacent bookshelf.

If you want more lighting for them while they read, get a booklight that attaches to the book. It serves as an extra-incentive.

Another way to go is a Kindle Fire. The lighted screen is suitable for any lighting conditions. There are rugged covers you can get for the Kindle to make it hold up to use by youngsters.

Colorful Child's Bookshelf - for the reading corner

Have lots of great books on hand with tempting covers. Make it easy for the child to grab a book and settle down to read.

Don't forget that reading aloud to a child is crucial to their learning to love reading too.
