Rustic things appeal to Virginia Allain. Farmhouse decor takes us back to our country roots and connects us to our ancestors.

Farmhouse Primitive Benches to Make or Buy

The plain styling of a rustic farmhouse bench is perfect for country or farmhouse primitive decorating, either inside or out. They evoke memories of handmade furnishings and useful simplicity.

These vintage painted benches or plain ones are the perfect spot to show off a potted plant or well-loved teddy bear. They are great to sit on while putting on your gardening boots. They can serve as a coffee table in front of the sofa. No matter where you place one, the shabby paint and the no-nonsense lines seem to fit right in.

Many benches are simple in styling, so just using basic carpentry skills you can make one in a short time. Check below for some video tutorials for this.

I visited a Shaker village this summer and was totally impressed with the classic styling of their wooden furniture. Even a hundred years later, people are still loving shaker design.
